Annette Griggs grew up on Truman Lake near Clinton, Missouri but has spent her adult life in the greater Kansas City area. She finished her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri where she graduated with honors. After completing law school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, Annette opened her own law firm focusing her practing on representing victims of personal injury accidents. Annette is honored to recently receive awards in the legal community for the 2011 Best of the Bar in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury, Missouri Lawyer’s Weekly Up & Coming Award for 2011, Super Lawyers of Missouri and Kansas.
Annette is devoted to helping people injured in vehicle and truck accidents who have suffered traumatic brain injuries, victims of drunk driving accidents, wrongful death actions, liquor liability and dram shop cases, slip and fall accidents and lawsuits against insurance companies.
Being a female attorney has shaped Annette’s career as a partner at McCollum & Griggs, LLC and as an attorney. Annette is currently serving on the board of directors of the Association of Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City (AWL-KC), Chair of the Kansas City MATA Women’s Caucus, the co-chair of the AWL Practice Development Program which is designed to assist Kansas City area female attorneys who want to achieve success in their private practices through the use of a one-on-one mentoring program. Additionally, Annette is on the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys (MATA) Board Of Governors. Annette is also a member of the Clay County Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, and the Kansas Bar Association.
In addition to her private practice, Annette is also passionate about providing volunteer aid to the underprivileged members of her community. She has devoted part of her practice to Pro Bono work and has recently been honored to be included on the 2011 Pro Bono Wall of Fame by the Missouri Bar. She is currently serving on the board of directors of Hope Haven Shelter of Cass County, MO, a domestic abuse shelter for women and their families which is the only domestic abuse shelter that serves Henry, Cass and Bates Counties. Additionally, Annette regularly volunteers for the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Harvesters among other charitable organizations.
Outside of the legal profession, Annette enjoys spending time with her husband, Gary, and their daughter, Emma. As a family they enjoy hiking, fishing and spending time at their cabin on Truman Lake.
